GKCG’s Community Beds Project Wins an Award!!

The members and volunteers at the Garden couldn’t be more delighted to have received recognition for the work put into the Community Beds Project over the past two growing seasons. The Garden’s Vice Chair accepted the Communal Gardening Award given by the Wicklow County Counci at their 2023 Community Sustainable Development Awards held March 2nd, 2024. The award was handed to us by none other than Taoiseach Simon Harris and other fantastic WCC officials and Councillors.

The Community Beds Project is open to the public and allows volunteers hands on experience in vegetable gardening. Our team of master gardeners provide training and manage the planting and care of the crop over the season. All produce goes to our partner at W.H. Five Loaves Day Care Facility in Bray to supplement the daily meals that they cook for those in need. Last year we delivered over 50 kg in produce. This year we have already delivered 3 Kg of beetroot, spring onions, spinach, flat leaf parsley, and radishes.

Many thanks again to the community of volunteers who have made this possible.
